The MVP Product Lab is a service specifically designed for founders to launch their digital businesses with minimal friction, mistakes, and costs.
“Before I started working with shoop, the branding was different and there wasn’t a defined market strategy.”
shoop started as a broader idea – the team wanted to build an event ticketing system to rival the likes Eventbrite. What started as an idea soon progressed into a functioning UAT (User Acceptance Testing) website, with red and blue branding and ambitions of conquering the ticketing market.
Soon after shoop approached MVP Solutions, the Product Lab process commenced. Chiara Puccinelli was transferred to shoop as an internal resource, taking on the role of Product Manager. What happened in the following months is what you see shoop as today – a start-up company that is doing exactly what they said they would.
The first step was to define a scope for shoop; this included the development of a go-to-market strategy that analysed all of the products in the market to find a true fitment for the new ticketing platform.
A series of sprints took place to complete competitor research and develop the go-to-market strategy. The team concluded that to launch a profit-turning business, shoop would have to cater to a less competitive audience.
After considerable market research, the product team discovered a niche that shoop could corner. The team collaborated with the extended team at MVP Solutions to create digital assets, and apply an effective rebrand.
The business was now moving in a clear direction, and the custom software development for shoop could begin. Within a couple of months, shoop had a functioning new website and a working system to process events. Intimate events, free and paid, soon followed and are now featured weekly on the platform.
The current iteration allows members to build a profile and connect with hosts and guests, which includes an industry-first chat feature.
shoop is now focusing on creative, independent organisers as they lack a tailored platform. The aim is to build a ‘social first’ ticketing platform with an interactive environment for hosts and attendees. It’s not just events, it’s workshops and classes – at these intimate events you might find yourself a new hobby!
Beyond just transitioning shoop from an idea to a real business, the Product Lab still has more to offer. The product team including Chiara Puccinelli are focusing on marketing the platform to event hosts, and whilst PR activity takes place the extended team at MVP Solutions can focus on the pitch deck.
New businesses must have an impressive pitch to secure funding in today’s environment, this is where the amalgamation of product and market research can contribute to tangible success for founders.
Aside from getting ready to fully go to market, the extended team are innovating and building special social implementations into the shoop platform, the unique features claim to revolutionise events for the targeted audience and an announcement is in the pipeline.
What Are the Team Doing Right Now?
In January, the combined team focused on continued improvements to the platform, performing A/B tests to improve response time and working towards the announcement of social features on the shoop platform. The start-up is now preparing to pitch their working concept to investors, with the help of a detailed pitch deck.
Expect to see representatives from the Shoop team at relevant conferences in the UK!
